The Universe Doesn't Send Chaos. It Sends Correction.

Sometimes the universe moves for us. We don't get to know why. We just learn to arrive differently.

My son fell off a scooter this week and broke his collarbone - the same bone, the same exact spot, as when he was born. He came into this world with a fracture in that place, and now, years later, the body has gone back to the beginning. We are in May, which is Hypermobility Awareness Month, and he lives with hypermobility and Type 1 diabetes. His body has always asked more of us than we expected, and we have always answered. Maybe we have taken it for granted recently?

I stood in that moment watching the X-ray show a complete break, and felt everything arrive at once.

The fear. The older grief underneath it, the one from when he was days old and already fractured. The fog of the years wadeing through tears, chasing therapies, and seeking answers for unanswered symptoms. The weight of watching the plans we had carefully built for nearly the rest of this year dissolved in an afternoon.

That's not usually how we talk about soul-led decisions, but we will today.

What We Think a Sign Looks Like

We spend enormous energy waiting for the sign before we move.

The whisper in the quiet morning. The gut feeling that arrives like a green light. The pattern in the numbers, the timing, the sense of expansion when we're moving in the right direction. We are taught to look for signs in the soft and subtle - the nudge, the synchronicity, the opening.

So we wait. We hold the question. We stay in the threshold longer than we need to because the signal hasn't felt clear enough yet.

What we miss is that the universe doesn't wait for us to be ready to receive the message.

When the Universe Moves First

If we don't move, sometimes the universe will adjust and move for us. It feels like the carpet is being pulled out from under you.

We don't get to know why. We don't get to know when. We just learn to arrive differently and show up more prepared than we were the last time something like this happened.

The universe will always order itself into balance. Every particle of energy in existence is in relationship with every other particle. When something is off, something comes in to correct it - and that correction can arrive sharp and fast. What seems like chaos to us is really precision. The universe keeps a perfect balance.

Not cruel. Exact.

When the correction arrives, the question that actually opens something is not why is this happening. The question is where had we drifted. What were we taking for granted in the good stretch. What lesson was already trying to reach us in smaller ways that we kept moving past.

That question takes courage to sit with. It is also the only one that moves us forward.

The Other Shoe

As a parent of a complex medical child, you learn to wait for the other shoe to drop.

It is not a choice. It is what the nervous system does after enough experience of things shifting without warning. The glucose that drops at 2am. The joint that gives out on a regular Tuesday. The plan that was carefully built and then quietly vetoed by a body that doesn't negotiate.

Even on the good days, there is a hum underneath. A vigilance that doesn't fully turn off. You learn to live inside it, to function inside it, but it is always there.

This is what waiting for the other shoe to drop actually is: a nervous system trained by reality to stay alert. It is not anxiety in the way people mean when they say just stop worrying. It is a hardwired response to a life that has genuinely required this level of attention. The body learned to protect itself. To scan for the next thing. To never fully settle into safety, because safety has shown itself to be temporary.

What this life also builds, over time, is fluency. Every cycle, we come back stronger. Every pass, we do it a little better. We know how to pick up pieces because we have done it before. We know how to assess, adjust, and keep moving because stopping has never been a real option.

That fluency is not nothing. The correction will ask us to use it moving forward.

Why the Signal Gets Buried

We cannot access soul-level knowing from inside a dysregulated nervous system.

When the body is in threat response, the signal gets buried under noise. Fear sounds like intuition. Avoidance sounds like discernment. The no that is really self-protection is almost indistinguishable from wisdom. We think we are listening to our soul. We are often listening to our survival response.

The tools that regulate us are also the first things the spiral takes away. That is not weakness. That is what surviving looks like sometimes. The very practices that create enough calm to hear the signal become hard to access exactly when we need them most.

This is why regulation is not a wellness trend. It is the actual prerequisite. We cannot receive what the universe is offering from inside the alarm of the event itself. We have to come down first. Get grounded. Get present. Then we can start to hear what this season is actually asking.

In the Middle of This

Every cycle, we come back stronger. Every pass, we do it a little better. All things rarely align in our timing, but they do come in perfect timing.

I didn't always believe that. That capacity was earned, slowly, through every spiral I chose to stay conscious in rather than just survive. I can witness this from a higher place now - see the full arc instead of only the hard moment I'm standing in. I didn't start there.

The year doesn't look the way it looked last week. My son is healing. We are adjusting. I am moving through old fear surfacing in new forms, through grief, through the weight of a disrupted plan on a plate that was already full.

The universe doesn't send chaos. It restores balance. And I trust that more than I trust my own resistance to it. Something had drifted. Something needed correcting. I don't have the full picture of what yet, and I'm learning to be at peace with that.

Sometimes, the most soul-led thing we can do is stop demanding the message arrive on our terms and get regulated enough to receive what is already here.

If you are in a season where the correction arrived before you were ready, where the plans dissolved, and you are trying to get grounded enough to hear what comes next - the Frequency Fix Starter Kit is where I start with almost everyone. Twenty-five tools for regulation, grounding, and returning to the frequency underneath the survival response.
